Our Mission
The mission of The Samaritan Center at the Jersey Shore is to provide hope and resiliency through mental health counseling and education. We are a non-profit organization established to provide individuals, couples and families with support and resources to advance their overall wellness. Our pledge is to assist clients with financial barriers who qualify for Silent Samaritan funding, ensuring they receive the care they need.
Our Vision
We envision a community where mental health is valued as an essential part of overall well-being, where stigma surrounding mental health is reduced, and where every individual has access to the support and resources they need to thrive.

Our History
We are all too aware of the unimaginable tragedies that members of our immediate Shore area have had to face in recent years: the senseless loss of life from suicide; the cascading hardships experienced by schools, families, and businesses due to substance abuse; the personal trauma and challenging adjustments necessary in the shaky economic environment and post-9/11 culture; and the lasting emotional and financial impact of Superstorm Sandy, which devastated our coastal communities and tested the resilience of countless individuals and families. Over recent years, a growing number of people retiring in the Shore area have also found themselves in need of additional support and connection. Many people are trying to cope with the stresses of life at a time when hospitals and other community agencies have limited services and resources. Too often, individuals and families do not know where to turn for help.
It is these realities that inspired the founding of the Samaritan Center at the Jersey Shore and inform our mission today.
